We start in South France

Agen, France. Our train trip was not without trauma. We were waiting at the wrong end when it pulled in, and had to run and run with all our international luggage: (ie: way too much.)

Our hotel for the overnight stay in Paris was very close to the station. This is the view from our room.

Another view!

We decided to catch a taxi up to Montmatre, and do a quick tourist trail and find a restaurant.

As usual, it was raining, so the view over Paris was fore-shortened.

The "artists" in the Montmatre square are getting worse! Is there someone overseeing the quality of the work? I don't think so. I found one guy who was doing good watercolours, but most of them are painting portraits.

This is the small watercolour that I bought from a Montmatre artist.

Our restaurant was great. We ate traditional fare.
We drank wine. We got sleepy.

But we had more walking to do, and shops to see!

Back in the hotel room, we watched the Eiffel Tower pretend to be a light house.
Then we slept in a big bed for the first time in two weeks. (Boat beds were narrow.)

Next morning, we are up and ready for our next journey.
At the station, on the correct platform, we are greeted by the right train, spotless and with well-organised ticketing.
Yea! Off to Amsterdam. (Click here)
